Confessions of a young man on his grind.

Waddup folks? It's been a minute, I know. I just realized I haven't reached out to you folks in the blogosphere since last week Friday. I will make sure I never leave ya'l hanging like that again.
This week has been a bit of a monster! I've been working extra haaard! Ha! This week started off with me getting some pretty hard, yet honest criticism from Rovella Williams of Verses Entertainment (ATL) on a song that I was choosing to push as a single, and perform next month in ATL at the Almost Famous Showcase. The song that I submitted to perform was "So Tru", one of my most known singles (at least in my region). I can honestly say that of all the songs on my album it's one of my least favorite, but it keeps getting a great response from people on the net. So I thought it would be a good choice to perform in ATL, because it has that southern vibe. Wel hell I guess I was wrong, because when Rovella listened to it she said she wasn't at all impressed! Hey, I'm no stranger to harsh criticism and so I listened! The good thing is that I have a plethora of good music, so I sent her a few more joints which she was highly in favor of. I'm still narrowing down which song I am going to perform in ATL, however I think I know now which one I am going to use.
I also got a few new beats from the homie E Johnson (btw I have to thank Rovela again for hooking us up). I called apon the homie because I was in desperate need of a rdio friendly single, we're scheduled to record tonight so I'll be updating you guys on the outcome of the studio session. I think I may have written a hit to one of his beats. I make hits! The world has yet to find out!
I also rehearsed a few days this week with my band the Fresh Cut Collective. We are getting things wrapped up to go record our demo record. This should be exciting. Most of the material is based apon some old songs I wrote that were on my first album "The Street Scholar" (2005), with all new live instrumentation. I'm sure it will all work out fine. The best part about it all is that we are not getting charged for the studio time.
I finally gave the folks at the Faces in The Crowd showcase in NYC my damn deposit for the showcase, and Meghan my East Coast partner is at work selling tickets for the showcase. I can't wait to finally get the opportunity to perform in NYC in front of a crowd full of industry folks! Imma blow that shit out of that bitch. Just watch! Plus I'm personally inviting all of my NYC music industry contacts so u know its gonna go down!
I'm on my grind folks, no time for girls and games, I want money. Thats it! The bottom line. Money. And thats what Imma get! $$!

BlaxLifeTV: "Midwest get the Money" Live in the studio wit Adebisi

Waddup folks! This is just me doing what I do best, and thats making bomb ass music. I swear I'm one of the only unsigned artists thats working crazy hard out here. I don't have management, a deal or a label. However I'm in the studio twice a week, rehearsing with my band twice a week, setting up shows (in and out of town) and just basically trying to get at this money!
Last night I was in the studio with Reason one of Milwaukee's hottest producers, and my right hand man XO.
We were in their prepping some songs for a collabo with a few different artists. I won't say who, because I don't want any speculation to spoil the plan.
Ain't much else to it besides that. From the look of these videos ya boy Adebisi needs to bust a few sit ups and get that summer sexy back! Lol! I'm madd comfortable with clowning myself! Ha! Ya'll know how the winter is in Milwaukee! Snuggled up wit a braud, some blunts and some brew! Adds madd poundage! The ladies still love me though so I'm gravy!
Oh well folks. Enjoy the footage and holla at your boy! I be seein folks checkin this blog from indonesia, London, Paris, Tokyo and all over the US! But how come none of ya'll suckas leave comments? People?

BlaxLifeTV: Interviews w/ Mikkey Halsted, No.I.D, Naledge (Kidz in the hall), GLC and many more. Live from the Mikkey Halsted "Internet on Lock" party

WoW! Chicago knows how to Party! Damn what they say about L.A! In CHI-TOWN it goes down!
I had a blast last night at the Mikkey Halsted "Internet on Lock" party ya'll. After being personally invited down by Mikkey, and his manager Javin Foreman you know I had to make it. The great part was that we had the camera with us. The bad part is that I swear we were filming in adequate light, but everytime I convert my videos over to Youtube they get dark as hell! maybe I should start using vimeo like everyone else is starting to do.
Well the ladies were definitely on point, and might I add they were showin mad love to the fellas from Milwaukee (me and the God X.O that is). Also the whole set was just showing us mad love! They even opened up the mic so I got to drop a hot ass freestyle in the middle of the whole set. Now thats love!
Everyone was in the building from GLC, No.I.D, Prolific, Naledge and many more. Check out some of the footage mayne!

Have u ever taken a plunge?

I'm going nuts with this blogging shit today! Wow! For those of you who don't know I am leaving my job after this week to pursue other options, Those options being my dreams, and I'm doing what my heart is telling me to do. Whew, I feel that God is telling me to go! Get up and get on with it! Life is to be lived and frankly I'm not living the life that I want to lead to sustain my family and my future. I know this decision is a hard one, and it could have came at a better time. But my heart says go! I made the decision, the paperwork at my job has been in, and they are even planning me a going away party this Friday. The feeling is just now starting to settle in though! To be honest I'm scared as hell! Who knows what will happen? Will I sink or swim?
I beleive in myself though, I beleive in my dreams, I'm holding my breath, my heart is racing, and I am about to take that plunge.

Daily Inspiration: Circulate by Young Jeezy produced by Don Cannon.

Man I know this song is old as hell by now, but this joint is fire. Jezzy hit the mark in my books with this song. Not the lyricist of the year mark, but he fa sho put it down!
Mr. Obama! Listen to Jeezy (The Secretary of the Ghetto) and make the dollaz circulate! This sing should be the anthen for the day. i mean Jeezy did it with "My President is Black", but damn we know that! Someone needs to be talking about how we are hurting in America! Struggling! After the party is over, then what the fuck! We need to eat. My president is black, but my money is still green and if my black President can't help make conditions better to put some green dollars in my back pocket! Then damnit something else needs to be changed. I gove a damn what coler the man is, just put some shiot in place to help make living in this world a better place. I promise I'll do my part too!

Mikkey Halsted: Internet on lock party tonight in Chicago!

Guest appearances by NoI.D, GLC, Mick Luter, Mic Terror, Sly Polaroid and Naledge. Music provided by DJ RTC and DJ Toure. 21 and up. And like my man Mikkey says "Those that know....know"!

Dreams of freaking a socialte chick! Angela Simmons

Definition of a Socialite:
A socialite is a person who is known to be a part of fashionable high society because of his or her regular participation in social activities and fondness for spending a significant amount of time entertaining and being entertained. Some socialites may choose to use their social skills and connections to promote and raise funds for various charitable or philanthropic activities. Socialites are usually in possession of considerable wealth, whether gained by inheritance or otherwise, that can sustain their steady attendance at social functions.

I know! Angela Simmons isn't the most beautifullest chick in the world! But she is pretty hot though! She reminds me of that girl from around the way who is cool yet sexy at the same time. She's got that cute round face with that New York accent, and that to me is pretty sexy! She's not too much into her self, yet she takes care of herself. She has got the guap though so why wouldn't she take care of herself! She's got that regular down to earth chick thing working well for her!
I've never came off with anything like this posted on my blog yet. However now I will be dedicating a whole section to "Dreams a freaking a socialite chick". If you could you would to! And if you are in fact freaking a socialite chick, then more power to you.
Where I'm at right now I know none of these chicks are accesible for me to holla at, but soon thing must change! When I get this change, things is gone change.
Socialite chicks here I come! Watch out!

Daily Inspiration: Marsha Ambrosious "Truly Yours" free mixtape album.

This Mixtape is stupid fresh! After all sometimes I get sick of getting beat upsode the head with lyrics full of bang, band and male braggadacio! Man the current state of alot of going on in Hip Hop is so foul that sometimes you need a relaxing break from it all to have some time to relax your dome.
I was always a Floetry fan from the jump. I thought as a group they brought something fresh and new to our versions of souls music. I was very pleased when I finally went and took a listen to this album because it reminded me of something just so, so fresh!
I hope you all enjoy this tid bit of inspiration that Marsha Ambrosious has brought to my life!

King, Obama & Ghetto Niggas like Me: Yeah I also have a dream

What would Martin do on a day like this? A day after the celebration of his birthday the world ushers in a new president, a black president..well a mixed president. Still, close enough I guess?
So today a million plus people are gathered in Washington D.C to welcome president Obama into office. And what does that mean to the nation? In my eyes it symbolizes a change in the political regime. A change in the way we as Americans look at Politics. A change in the psyche of all concious Africans, and African American people.
The part of it all that scares me is that I see Black folks walking around the damn ghetto acting like the whole struggle is over! That saddens me because, I know deep in my heart that the struggle for us as a whole people have just yet begun to struggle towards a better tomorrow.
There will be no free chicken and watermelon falling from the skies! No get out of work today passes. And no free congnac Fridays at the local club!. Lol! Now I'm being a bit sarcastic, but I hope ya'll get the picture.
What all this means to me is that anything is possible. Me and Obama don't nearly come from the same background at all. His mother is white, and he was raised in Kansas and Hawaii. My mother is black, and I was raised in the ghettoes of Middle America. He was a Harvard student that graduated at the top of his class. I'm a college dropout who skipped every possible class. All and all I still feel as If I can dream it I can acheive it!
Still I know there will never be a president who looks like me, from the same conditions as I and with the same educational background as me. I'm fine with that, because I know that the political gurus controlling the world don't ever want to see that, but if they did it would be drama!.
Hell MLK would've never even had the chance to be president! You still have to be just white enough to get it!
I have the utmost respect for Barack Obama, however to me this whole deal feels like my black ass is still being summoned and controlled by the bastard son of the white slave owners. You know how back in the slave days, when massa had sex with one of his blacks and made a baby. How that baby would be held higher and regarded more than the average black slave! Well thats what this feels like to a nigga like me. A nigga bound to the feilds, by blood, sweat and labor. Black to the bone and undeniably so.
Yeah I have a dream. I have a dream that when the smoke clears, we as black folks won't be sold out. I have a dream that America can think beyond class and race. Yeah I have a dream to be wholistically free. But will that dream ever come to be, when you're one whose as black as me.

Luckily this is a producer battle or else ya'll would have been assed out! Man it's mainly my fault for forgetting to use the back light feature on my damn camcorder. Like I said it's new and I'm getting used to it.
I had to make a stop out last night to the Mil Town Beat down. An annual producer battle that is put on by DJ Madhatter of Radio Milwaukee. To represent for my guys Reason and Adlib. Both whom have contributed to my next project "Hard Money".
Check them out as they both reign victorious at the Mil Town Beat Down.

Mikkey Halsted talks with BlaxLifeTV about the Midwest Grind!

I recently caught up with my fam Mikkey Halsted at Sound Scape Studios on the South Side of Chicago. He chopped it up wit BlaxLifeTV about the midwest and how artist in the region need to come together so that we all can succeed. the fotage is a little dark and the background music kind of gets in the way of the message, but no matter what the real issue is felt!
This is only the first of many vids coming from Mikkey and BlaxLifeTV, I just bought this camcorder so bear with me! LOL! I swear I'll get it right next time. OneLove & BlaxLIfe!

My New York State of Mind

I'm sitting on the #2 train on my way to Flatbush Brooklyn soaking it
all up. Currently I'm blastin that Jay Electronica Transformations shit!
Yeah I know he ain't from NY, but he is one of the hardest niggas
spitting that dirty NY rap that I know and love. I love this shit! The
trains, the people, the pizza, the women, the essence! This is me right
here! I feel exactly at home right here. I'm gonna take NYC by storm in
09 and I promise that. It's over for any nigga in NY not spitting that
shit! I come from Milwaukee and I do, so why don't you? Like they told
me when I was younger, it ain't where you from, it's where your at. I'm
here now! What! And I swear to GOD that 09 is mine and the first city to
recognize will be the NYC!
My original reason for coming out here was to audition for this industry
showcase called "faces in the crowd", and guess what motherfuckers! Yes
they just hit ya boy back thru email and let me know I made it to the
showcase! Finally I get a chance to display my shit to some power
players who really matter!
I put my two weeks in at my job yesterday, and I'll be damned if my kids
miss a meal ot I ever regret the day I got the nerve to do exactly what
my heart has been telling me to do.
There is no one doing this emcee shit who can do it better than I can
and I promise you that! Not Jay, not Kanye, not Nas, not Luda, not
Weezy, not anyone. I'm sonning all you old niggas this year. Like my
song "This Is" my motherfucking year to wreck shop. Get in line or get
outlined in chalk. I promised my baby's mother that even if we're never
together that I'd take care of her for taking care of my kids. I won't
let them down. My niggas all know I'm hot and wish the best for me.
There is no way possible that I can let my people down. My moms works
like a slave, and I hate it. My sisters and my nieces need vacations and
my pops needs to see my kids!
All these things I promise to see before the year ends.

To review or not to review you decide!

Once again I had to reach out to the critc/blogger critic of critics to get some feedback on one of my newer songs "This Is" produced by Reason of 4AR Music Group. As always I had my fingers crossed, because I know how hard the judgement can be and as an artist I always wear my heart on my sleeve! I'm not at all sensitive though....don't get it twisted!. If you'd like to hear the song for yourself and make your own decision click on the title of this post and go directly to Jacquesmorel.blogspot.com and check it out. Make sure you leave a comment. My New Years Revolution for a Resolution. Let's Go!

2009. A New Year and I'm still here. With all that I know I have been through in my past it is definitely a blessing to still be here. I thank GOD for everyone in my life that beleives in me, my vision, my movement and my music. Times are changing as I go into this year of 2009 and I feel it. Big change. I claim this as the year when the whole world will know my name. This is my year to excel and shine. I beleive. If GOD stands with me then nothing can stand against me! It's time for BLAXLIFE to go global.
My people have always struggled. My close friends are some of the most talented people in the world. And until know we have endured hardships, have been put down, and setback. Our time is now. It is time for us to rise! All debts have been settled, and all dues have been paid. In turn we will now get and have everything that we have been owed.
The best is finally ours because we are the best. The time is now for us to be at our best and live the best life that their is to live. Everything that we've ever dreamed, wanted and imagined is right within our reach. And all those things will soon be in our grasp.
All these things I promise as sure as my name is Adebisi, on my souls and the souls of my family. The souls of the ancestors will guide us through. Ironic as I'm writing this the late Tupac Shakur blasts through the speakers as my mp3 player shuffles through songs. That's a definite sign to me. That everything will be alright.

Be blessed in the New Year.
