DigiBlax! My 100th post! Its a celebration bitches!

Progression is a mutha! And thats exactly what I've been on! I'm happy that you all are still hangin in their with me as I venture through these life and times of an emcee. I set out writing this blog to help to not only bring exposure to me an my music, but to also chronicle my journey along the way to the top. I haven't made it their yet, but it's coming. I can feel it in the air!
Today has been a good day again! Two of my songs (80's babies and Pray To The Sun) were debuted on a D.C based internet radio show called Fuseboxradio (Fuseboxradio.podomatic.com)this week. And Dj Fusion said that folks were really loving the songs! I mean i was only expecting them to debut 80's Babies, but when she told me that both of those songs were added to the rotation I was blown away! Also today I sent the track "Victory" over to the homie Bug Yu of Digiwaxx Media, and he absolutely loved the song. I admit I was fucking amazed to hear that. I guess after years on mawfuckas hatin on my music it's about time IMPORTANT people start to take notice! So in the next coming month or so i will be pushing the single "Victory" through digiwaxx media. And that is not at all a small deal! Ha ha! I'm on my way haters! I'm sure the haters aren't reading this blog though, so if any of you supporters happen to run up on a hater. Tell em I said...HA HA HA!
Other than that the future is looking bright! The Midwest Connect Showcase is taking on a form of its own. Javin Foreman (Mikkey Halsteds Manager)has some wonderful ideas on how we can capitalize even more off of this venture, and I am more than excited.
God loves me! I say that because I'm just a kid from Milwaukee who had the audacity to really beleive in hos dreams. And after constantly working towards my goals, the Good Lord is putting me in the place to make things happen. I tell folks that I am the American dream, and I really mean it. I come from nothing, the dirt. But I am growing into a string and sturdy tree.
i love all ya'll reading this!

Puttin in werk like a d-boy!

What it do folks in my immediate blogosphere. Glad to know that you are still tuned in wit ya mans Adebisi over here.
As you would know it I am over here, back in Milwaukee for a minute putting in some serious work and grinding hard to get that paper. Update on me quitting my job: the best thing that I've done for my life thus far! I'm just happy to have the time to use my brain! After a while work was getting to taking up too much of my time and creative energy. I am just getting into the groove of listening to that voice that natuarally leads me in my spirit. Things have been working out fine for me. I wake up every morning and pray that God puts me on the right path towards focusing and acheiving my goals. He has and everyday has been a productive day.
I'm at the point where I am minimilizing alot of things in my life to kind of strip the fat off of life and get to the meat of things. I'm really just narrowing everything and preparing for the next phase of my life. I see some big things.
Besides from the music I'm in the process of starting another company to have while pursuing the music. I quit my job yes, but not to be a starving artist, but to be a budding entrepreneur. By the summer time I expect to have things up and running. I won't let my idea out the bag yet tho. Ya'll just gone have to wait and see.
As you all can see in March I have another showcase coming up...actually I have two in March. One in Atlanta (Almostfamoushow.com) and one in Milwaukee (as pictured in the flyer). Both of these shows are gonna be incredible. I'm hoping the comrade X.O can occompany me down in ATL so that we can bring that tandem stage performance to the masses (I'm rockin by myself, but when me and X.O get down on stage shit is crazy)!. He'll also be doing a small set on the 20th, he's got some new shit poppin and folks are diggin it so it's time he steps out and gets some of this beautiful sunshine. Asides from that me and the band have a show this Saturday, and again we are playing at UWM on March 11th. Puttin in WERK! I love this grind, its what I asked for and I wouldn't have it any other way. Until next time.

The City Sleeps

The city sleeps.

The city sleeps as the streets weep
The lonely soul bids to creep
The night is calm as a dead mans palm
No life left or heartbeat
The city sleeps passing through dream
To R.E.M state
The state succumbs to rumbling snores of the city
Residents of the city walk like zombies
Pondering time in a timeless place
no minds awake
Trying to find peace of mine
Or a piece of mines
The insomniac awaits for the city to again awake
As the city sleeps.

Not Bad for my first time performing in New York City. Next time I won't shyt on the crowd for acting too damn cool and non responsive and shit! Geez. NYC was clearly the hardest crowd that I've ever "attempted" to rock!
Needless to say I went in and did my thang, folks were giving me props when I got off the stage so hey what can I say.

A helluva day!

I wrote a blog to post earlier from my phone and then my damn phone did
some wack assed crazy shit! Man my heart dropped for a minute, because I
thought I had lost all of my fucking contacts! Great thing was after a
while this bitch booted up and got back to normal. I'm bout to back up
every fucking number I have on my sim card. I'm an idiot for not doing
so in the first place!
Anyhow today started off all good. After getting in from the faces in
the crowd showcase around 2 am I stayed up till around 4:30 am building
on some of the contacts that I had made at the show. After that I
basically took a 3 hr nap and got my black ass back up on the grind.
This morning I had an appointment out in the Canarsie, Brooklyn area
with two photographers who are doing a piece on black males to be
featured in Trance magazine. I got out there to do the shoot and as
wegot started it began to snow big ass r

Fell in love with Harlem.

Harlem, New York I think I've found my home! I've been in NYC for a few days now and I am staying in Harlem. However each day i have been dipping from uptown to downtown and all around town. Today I decided to spend the day before my show in Harlem. How could I not have. I had visions of Malcolm X hanging on the street corners when he was still Detroit Red, and heard the sounds of Miles Davis blowing his horn to the heavens.
I can't beleive that i waas actually walking the streets of Lennox ave where countless numbers of my artistic heroes once traveled. No not Cam, Jimmy or Juelz (although they get down too), but Langston, Zora Neale and Dizzy! I don't know how significant that is to regular Harlemites, but that means a hell of a lot to me a an artist.
The women of Harlem are astounding and I am definitely a fan! All flavors from Boriqua, to Chocolate brown. i sincerely fell in love with Harlem. No where in Milwaukee can you get as much diversity as I have got in one day in good ol Harlem. The neighborhoods look as if they haven't changed since the beginnigs of Harlem (okay so Harlem is much gentrified now, but beyond that the infrastructure is still classic). And what other city honors Malcolm X ( MY UTMOST FAVORITE HUMAN OF ALL TIMES)with his own main thoroughfare? Every city has an MLK drive, street or ave, but folks cease to never recognize Malcoms excellence. I mean he makes Obama look like George Bush. Lol! Not quite, but I beleive malcolm was the best thing to EVER happen to African American people. And he called Harlem his home. I so want to call it mines too!
And lets not talk about the Apollo! I mean the history you breathe in when just walking past it! I purposely walked by it and stopped a number of times. I just wanted to be there in that moment if only for a moment in time.
Needless to say....i think I've found the place that eventually i want to call home. That is until I move to Ghana, West Africa!

iGrind....The Next Movement!

I'm still in NY grinding hard as hell. Today i woke up early and headed to Soho to politic wit my homie DJ Laser. We were building for a few hours, went to some urban wear spots in the city. Shit was mad nice too!
After that I was at starbucks poliotickin wit two homies from BK who do photography and video. They are filming a documentary on the state of Black males in America and they wanted to interview me. So tomorrow morning we are getting together in Harlem by the Apollo Theatre to shoot some photo's and some footage. That should be nice!
I've been working hard ya'll. Pray for me ya'll. I have a showcase tomorrow that is pretty major, and I'm gonna win it all!

A beautiful day.

Today is a beautiful day. This morning I woke up around 6am and started my day. I woke up, went and got some clothes out of the dryer and then proceeded to go and wake my two sleeping children so that I could get them off and on to school.
That went off without a hitch or a fit from my 3 yr old daughter who in particualarily isn't a morning person. This morning it was my son who was a bit tired and fussy. While my daughter was off playing and making me smile, my sone was moping around acting blah. Come to find out that the kid had a little stomache ache. He just needed to take a duece and after that he was okay.
After I got them to their mom I hurried and went in to work for my last time to make it to the celebration they had planned for me. I hate the institution of work, but I must say I loved my job. Even though somedays it sucked for the most part it was a great experience. And My supervisor Ms. Denise Crumble has been a blessing in my life. Well needless to say I get to work and folks are setting up plates and plates of food and wishing me well on my transition. I must say all the fols at work were much supportive of me having the courage to pursue my art full time. I stayed for about an hour and a half and stuffed my face, said my farewell's and hit it! No need to stick around and dwell on the past when I have a date with destiny you know.
So after I nleft work I went home to walk my pitbull Judah. Its a beautiful day outside today so we went on a semi long walk. Yesterday I took him to the park and he got mud all over my new timbs. That was totally my fault though! So since I'm gonna be moving around I am trying to find a home for the pup and I found some potential folks. I like the damn dog though and I really don't wanna see him go, but hell he can't feed himself!
Well....after walking the dog I drove over to the east side Starbucks (currently I am looking ata gorgeous woman's posterior and they're happens to be a few good looking women in here). ANyhow the register didn't have the funds to change a 50 dollar bill, so I got my coffee for free! Yay me!
Add to the fact that we are having a beautiful day today, it was my final day at work, they through me a party, I got 50 bucks and a free coffee! This may go on the record as one of the top ten best days ever!
I really feel like my star is alligning! Things just have been going perfectly to the plan. Thank God I have one! Or a somewhat plan at least.

BlaxLifeTV: Mikkey Halsted "Internet on Lock" party (Re-edited)

I had to ga back in and make this properly. Some of you have already seen the clips now just watch it all as one and in better quality.
OneLove & BlaxLife

BlaxLifeTV: Mikkey Halsted "Internet on Lock" party. from Adebisi Agoro on Vimeo.

Last Friday..

I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and write for a few days, but I damnn sure wanted to hurry up and get to a computer last Friday, because I was having one hell of a day!

Now I woke up Friday morning motivated and ready to put my nose to the grindstone. So I did all my morning stuff, put on my coat and hit the streets. The only thing was that I had put on a different coat that I ususally where and wouldn't you know I left my damn keys in the house in my other coat. So I was not only locked out of my house I was locked out the car. So I was stuck in a bind. I thought my day was wasted, because everyone who could help me ws either gone to work or just not home. I called my landlord who stays around the corner was also gone. Needless to say I was pissed off! After sitting on my porch for about two hours my landlord finally called me back and I went and got the keys! Right on time because I had to go to the bank and get a money order reissued that ended up costing me 20 bucks. I was pissed about that too! So after Ileave the bank I;m walking back to my car and I run into this old white man named Chuck who was propably one of the most jovial fellas that I have ever met in my life! So we get to talking about life, politics and so forth and after a while I get to telling him about my music. Whick then he started telling me about his sons, one who's the director of the Boston Symphony and another who has a Grammy award winning group called the Kronos Quartet. I was amazed! Anyway Chuck wanted to know more about what it was that I did, so I told him that I'd come back over with some of my sponsorship sheets and we'd talk then.

So after running some more errands I stopped back over by Chucks and had the opportunity to meet his wife of 60 years and his grand daughter...which was a joy. I mean how often do you meet good, genuine people in life. They even donated $60.00 to me for my trip expenses! I thought to myself that God must've brought that moment together!

Yeah Friday was a real good day. I got a few extra bucks in the bank and for some reason i knew I was on the right path.

God rewards the faithful! I've been on my constant grind for quite some time and he is recognizing and enabling me to shine. Watch a rising star!

I Love My Life...

Ya'll remember that song by Noreaga? I actually can't even remember the album that it was on. However it was a dope song.
Life is something though. You never know where it is going to take you. The joy is in pursuing your passion.

I Love My Life - Noreaga Ft. Carl Thomas

Reviews, reviews, reviews! 2 new songs by Adebisi "80's Babies" & "Dance & Romance". Tell me what you think. You be the judge!

Along this road a man needs a little feedback! Me personally, I could care less if a person hates one of my songs. I'm not at all sensitive and I know that people have different tastes. As an artist i don't want to be one to get labeled as neither a mainstream artist, or a backpack underground artist.
People forget that what I do as an artist is make songs. I listen to the beat, and I do what the beat tells me to do. Sometimes the beat requires some gully shit, and sometimes not. Sometimes the beat requires some intellectual shit, and sometimes not. Sometimes the beat is speaking to the ladies, and sometimes not. I just make the songs. I am influenced by a world of music and not one form or genre, so I write an array of different songs.
When I was young all I listened to was West Coast music. I thought everything else sucked!. That is until I hit my early teens (maybe around 12) i started listening to all East Coast music, and you couldn't tell me anything else was better. As an adult I listen to everything! So the inspiration from what i write might just come from Soula Boy, or it might come from Mozart! I gives a fuck. Like I said I write songs. And I write songs for everyone, and for every situation.
I recently submitted two songs to my man Jaques Morel for review to get some feedback. Go click the title of this blog post to go and listen for yourself, and cast your vote! Lemme know what you think? The link is also posted below!

Dedication.

I don't know the webster's dictionary meaning to the word dedication off hand. However I know it is that drive that pushes you to keep going. Dedication takes serious discipline. The discipline to avoid the party to focus on being the party. The ability to say no. To abstain from all things that may potentially make you lose focus of the goal.
What's your dedication? It is what makes you.
My dedication is to music and my craft of being an emcee and making great music. This is what i want, and this is what i will receive. i was talking to my friend Shaun the other day, and after he read one of the post's on my blog he let me know that everything will be alright. That all my hard work, time and decication will be rewarded. Hearing direct encouragement from my friends and others who have seen me grind and believe in what I do gives me the fuel to strive harder.
I'm gone ya'll. Attempting to capture what I feel is mine's in this world! I don't beleive in the recession or any of this political obsession. No praises to Obama before I praise and raise up Adebisi. I am great. A shining Black Prince for our generation. Like Malcom X was for his. I just want to be heard by the world and have an influential voice for my people.
I do what it takes to suceed! I may sacrifice, but no sacrifice is as great as the reward. In this life I've built up kingdoms, torn them down only to build them up again.
Since I was way young I felt that I had some kind of destiny to live out. Who knows where God may lead me. I'm dedicated. I'm ready.
I'm gone.
OneLove & BlaxLife.
