once the great city of Milwaukee is no more though. Unemployment rates
have skyrocketed, teen pregnancy is high (though there has been a
significant drop) and the degradation of poverty wears like foundation
on the faces of the people.
Today I was one of the "not so many" in attendance at the job and
resource portion of the SDC poverty symposium. Due to the intense snow
that Milwaukee just received the people who really could have benefitted
from the job fair weren't in attendance. However it is encouraging to
know that organizations like SDC are attempting to makle the Milwaukee
community a better place by providing events such as the poverty
symposium. Later this evening there will be a dinner hosted downtown at
the Midwest express center featuring some good speakers. I'll make sure
to update you all more on this positive event happening around the city.
