Waddup folks? It's been a minute, I know. I just realized I haven't reached out to you folks in the blogosphere since last week Friday. I will make sure I never leave ya'l hanging like that again.
This week has been a bit of a monster! I've been working extra haaard! Ha! This week started off with me getting some pretty hard, yet honest criticism from Rovella Williams of Verses Entertainment (ATL) on a song that I was choosing to push as a single, and perform next month in ATL at the Almost Famous Showcase. The song that I submitted to perform was "So Tru", one of my most known singles (at least in my region). I can honestly say that of all the songs on my album it's one of my least favorite, but it keeps getting a great response from people on the net. So I thought it would be a good choice to perform in ATL, because it has that southern vibe. Wel hell I guess I was wrong, because when Rovella listened to it she said she wasn't at all impressed! Hey, I'm no stranger to harsh criticism and so I listened! The good thing is that I have a plethora of good music, so I sent her a few more joints which she was highly in favor of. I'm still narrowing down which song I am going to perform in ATL, however I think I know now which one I am going to use.
I also got a few new beats from the homie E Johnson (btw I have to thank Rovela again for hooking us up). I called apon the homie because I was in desperate need of a rdio friendly single, we're scheduled to record tonight so I'll be updating you guys on the outcome of the studio session. I think I may have written a hit to one of his beats. I make hits! The world has yet to find out!
I also rehearsed a few days this week with my band the Fresh Cut Collective. We are getting things wrapped up to go record our demo record. This should be exciting. Most of the material is based apon some old songs I wrote that were on my first album "The Street Scholar" (2005), with all new live instrumentation. I'm sure it will all work out fine. The best part about it all is that we are not getting charged for the studio time.
I finally gave the folks at the Faces in The Crowd showcase in NYC my damn deposit for the showcase, and Meghan my East Coast partner is at work selling tickets for the showcase. I can't wait to finally get the opportunity to perform in NYC in front of a crowd full of industry folks! Imma blow that shit out of that bitch. Just watch! Plus I'm personally inviting all of my NYC music industry contacts so u know its gonna go down!
I'm on my grind folks, no time for girls and games, I want money. Thats it! The bottom line. Money. And thats what Imma get! $$!
OneLove & BlaxLife.
