Adventures in DollarMonsterland. (Adebisi Mixtape Free Download links via Datpiff.com)

Waddup people! So as of late along with the other millions of things that I have been doing I recently started performing regularily at various shows with another Milwaukee emcee MC Mikal in a series of shows that they are calling DollarMonsterLand.
Thus far each show has been different in it's own way. I always keep a few things consistent in my set, but I never constantly do the same set. I know that branding is a major factor, but since we do these shows weekly i always like to keep things fresh for entertainment purposes.
The shows are usually intimate and taking place at smaller establishments. This is cool for me because performing with Fresh Cut Collective I have been doing alot of larger shows and you happen to get away from the closeness of the people at those shows because they are so big and there is so much going on.
I'm using these shows as a lane to push mixtapes and other projects. Also to re-educate fans that may have just caught on to what I am doing as far as bringing them up to speed with my old and new material. I have so many songs recorded from previous years that I can constantly use older material that is still fresh and bring it back with some newer material.
Check out some of my older music on Datpiff.com. Get to know the old me so you can see where I'm going. 80's Babies Coming Soon!

"80's Babies" Artwork Sneak Preview!

The wait is almost over! If you didn't know I have been waiting to release this project for a few months. In a few weeks...or maybe even sooner I will finally have the opportunity to do ust that. I'm pretty excited about this whole "80's Babies" project. This project is a collaborative effort between myself and DJ Mz Stylez of Sirius XM Radio Shade 45. I appreciate her time and patience as she put in alot of hours mixing the project and giving it that cut and scratch 80's DJ feel. Ha! We stayed up alot of late nights working on this joint via phone as she made her way from Harlem to the Manhattan offices of Sirius XM Radio.
To me this is a way of paying homage to some of my favorite artists and Hip Hop songs that I grew up listening to. The project was fun for me to put together and a little something to give to the world until I can release my sophomore full length album "Hard Money".
Shouts out to B Tweezy for getting together with the folks from Viper Grafix and making the artwork for this project happen. It is always great to have good people on your team.

This Grind of Mines..I wouldn't trade it for the world

Waddup ya'll? In the midst of all that is going on I'm trying my best to get back on my blogging shit. So I at least am gonna update ya'll a few times weekly (I am not a blogger, but I have to keep ya'll updated somehow...that is if you care)!
Today has been cool for the most part. I just recently got off the phone w/ my homegirl Mz Stylez from Sirius XM radio and I am proud to announce that we will be collaborating on a mixtape in the next coming months (Sirius XM Radio...umm..this is MAAJOR). I won't even let ya'll know the theme of it all, because their just might be a biter out there, but trust me it'll be fire and it is a guaranteed look to provide ya boy with a ton of nationwide exposure. I'm just excited that she wants to work with me! If you go back a few months on this blog she ethered me on her web show Lip Service, but I was humble and apparaently she was diggin the current tape "Victory: The Hunger for War" so she called me to do more work. Plus she was just too cute for me to be mad at her!
I sold a few more cd's today, honestly I've just been catching up with some stuf online so I haven't really been out there, but I have a few shows this weekend where I'm sure I'll make a few bucks. Hell this phone bill has to get paid some how!
One thing that I am blessed with is good people to be around and offer me good sound advice. When ever I need a lift i can just call on my homegirl Rovella Williams of Almost Famous, Playboy Tre or my homie Babyboi from Nappy Boy Ent! They always have some positive words of encouragement. Oh and let me not leave out my homegirl Goldyn of Xposure magazine (who has a featured interview with me in her soon to be first issue). Thanks alot peeps. As well as all the other close family & friends who have helped me out along the way. Its amazing because I am touching the world from my little space on earth in Milwaukee! Who does that? Just last night I had an impromptu meeting with my guy Haze from NY (he was in town) who works as an A&R for Atlantic. We politicked for a minute, I gave him some cd's and an Fresh Cut Collective t shirt. I do what i can.
This Grind is so intense and I do what i can to stay afloat, man I'm broke as hell, but I just can't fathome ever going back to my office 9-5. The money was good, but in the end its not worth my soul. Till next time..pray for me.

Greetings from Planet BLAX!

Where should I start? Hmmm. Lemme get this together here. Okay! Who knows the last time I posted something on here from my opinion or my life for that matter. Seems like weeks. Oh well. The new things that have been going on with Adebisi are as follows.
Last Friday was the "Midwest Connect" showcase that took place at Stonefly Brewery. That joint was off the hook! The homie Mikkey Halsted came down from Chicago with his crew and they represented! Everyone on the showcase did an excellent job (Yung Kris, The Cranberry Show & Haz Solo)! I am building bridges in the Midwest so if you wanna jump on the train come and connect! I'll be posting the footage for that show as soon as I have a chance to look at it and edit it. I promise!
Along with having Chicago come down and show some love to the Mil, I also got some love from Chicago this week. I have a new song with Mikkey Halsted and Que Billah called "Midwest Gets The Money", and its a banger! Well the homie at fakeshoredrive.com showed some love and posted the joint. Haha! I was trying to finaggle my way onto that blog, but they only post Chicago hip hop! So I did the next best thing and did a song with two of Chicago's hottest artists! You gotta get it in somehow shiiiiit! This is BLAXLIFE and where there is a will there is definitely a way!
I have a few other big plans in the makings for the future to. I'll only reveal to you this one. I will soon be putting on a lecture and discussion series dealing with some issues affecting young, black males in my community. This will definitely be off the chain. I am an artist and am I no way confined to just rhyming! Please. I'm not only a renaissance man, I am the renaissance

P.S: Aint my lil girl Asabi the cutest! She's the Queen of Planet BLAX, and she'll devour you like she devours chicken wings if you act up! What, what!!!

iGrind....The Next Movement!

I'm still in NY grinding hard as hell. Today i woke up early and headed to Soho to politic wit my homie DJ Laser. We were building for a few hours, went to some urban wear spots in the city. Shit was mad nice too!
After that I was at starbucks poliotickin wit two homies from BK who do photography and video. They are filming a documentary on the state of Black males in America and they wanted to interview me. So tomorrow morning we are getting together in Harlem by the Apollo Theatre to shoot some photo's and some footage. That should be nice!
I've been working hard ya'll. Pray for me ya'll. I have a showcase tomorrow that is pretty major, and I'm gonna win it all!
More from me later ya'll!

Dedication.

I don't know the webster's dictionary meaning to the word dedication off hand. However I know it is that drive that pushes you to keep going. Dedication takes serious discipline. The discipline to avoid the party to focus on being the party. The ability to say no. To abstain from all things that may potentially make you lose focus of the goal.
What's your dedication? It is what makes you.
My dedication is to music and my craft of being an emcee and making great music. This is what i want, and this is what i will receive. i was talking to my friend Shaun the other day, and after he read one of the post's on my blog he let me know that everything will be alright. That all my hard work, time and decication will be rewarded. Hearing direct encouragement from my friends and others who have seen me grind and believe in what I do gives me the fuel to strive harder.
I'm gone ya'll. Attempting to capture what I feel is mine's in this world! I don't beleive in the recession or any of this political obsession. No praises to Obama before I praise and raise up Adebisi. I am great. A shining Black Prince for our generation. Like Malcom X was for his. I just want to be heard by the world and have an influential voice for my people.
I do what it takes to suceed! I may sacrifice, but no sacrifice is as great as the reward. In this life I've built up kingdoms, torn them down only to build them up again.
Since I was way young I felt that I had some kind of destiny to live out. Who knows where God may lead me. I'm dedicated. I'm ready.
I'm gone.

Confessions of a young man on his grind.

Waddup folks? It's been a minute, I know. I just realized I haven't reached out to you folks in the blogosphere since last week Friday. I will make sure I never leave ya'l hanging like that again.
This week has been a bit of a monster! I've been working extra haaard! Ha! This week started off with me getting some pretty hard, yet honest criticism from Rovella Williams of Verses Entertainment (ATL) on a song that I was choosing to push as a single, and perform next month in ATL at the Almost Famous Showcase. The song that I submitted to perform was "So Tru", one of my most known singles (at least in my region). I can honestly say that of all the songs on my album it's one of my least favorite, but it keeps getting a great response from people on the net. So I thought it would be a good choice to perform in ATL, because it has that southern vibe. Wel hell I guess I was wrong, because when Rovella listened to it she said she wasn't at all impressed! Hey, I'm no stranger to harsh criticism and so I listened! The good thing is that I have a plethora of good music, so I sent her a few more joints which she was highly in favor of. I'm still narrowing down which song I am going to perform in ATL, however I think I know now which one I am going to use.
I also got a few new beats from the homie E Johnson (btw I have to thank Rovela again for hooking us up). I called apon the homie because I was in desperate need of a rdio friendly single, we're scheduled to record tonight so I'll be updating you guys on the outcome of the studio session. I think I may have written a hit to one of his beats. I make hits! The world has yet to find out!
I also rehearsed a few days this week with my band the Fresh Cut Collective. We are getting things wrapped up to go record our demo record. This should be exciting. Most of the material is based apon some old songs I wrote that were on my first album "The Street Scholar" (2005), with all new live instrumentation. I'm sure it will all work out fine. The best part about it all is that we are not getting charged for the studio time.
I finally gave the folks at the Faces in The Crowd showcase in NYC my damn deposit for the showcase, and Meghan my East Coast partner is at work selling tickets for the showcase. I can't wait to finally get the opportunity to perform in NYC in front of a crowd full of industry folks! Imma blow that shit out of that bitch. Just watch! Plus I'm personally inviting all of my NYC music industry contacts so u know its gonna go down!
I'm on my grind folks, no time for girls and games, I want money. Thats it! The bottom line. Money. And thats what Imma get! $$!

BlaxLifeTV: Interviews w/ Mikkey Halsted, No.I.D, Naledge (Kidz in the hall), GLC and many more. Live from the Mikkey Halsted "Internet on Lock" party

WoW! Chicago knows how to Party! Damn what they say about L.A! In CHI-TOWN it goes down!
I had a blast last night at the Mikkey Halsted "Internet on Lock" party ya'll. After being personally invited down by Mikkey, and his manager Javin Foreman you know I had to make it. The great part was that we had the camera with us. The bad part is that I swear we were filming in adequate light, but everytime I convert my videos over to Youtube they get dark as hell! maybe I should start using vimeo like everyone else is starting to do.
Well the ladies were definitely on point, and might I add they were showin mad love to the fellas from Milwaukee (me and the God X.O that is). Also the whole set was just showing us mad love! They even opened up the mic so I got to drop a hot ass freestyle in the middle of the whole set. Now thats love!
Everyone was in the building from GLC, No.I.D, Prolific, Naledge and many more. Check out some of the footage mayne!

Have u ever taken a plunge?

I'm going nuts with this blogging shit today! Wow! For those of you who don't know I am leaving my job after this week to pursue other options, Those options being my dreams, and I'm doing what my heart is telling me to do. Whew, I feel that God is telling me to go! Get up and get on with it! Life is to be lived and frankly I'm not living the life that I want to lead to sustain my family and my future. I know this decision is a hard one, and it could have came at a better time. But my heart says go! I made the decision, the paperwork at my job has been in, and they are even planning me a going away party this Friday. The feeling is just now starting to settle in though! To be honest I'm scared as hell! Who knows what will happen? Will I sink or swim?
I beleive in myself though, I beleive in my dreams, I'm holding my breath, my heart is racing, and I am about to take that plunge.

Daily Inspiration: Circulate by Young Jeezy produced by Don Cannon.

Man I know this song is old as hell by now, but this joint is fire. Jezzy hit the mark in my books with this song. Not the lyricist of the year mark, but he fa sho put it down!
Mr. Obama! Listen to Jeezy (The Secretary of the Ghetto) and make the dollaz circulate! This sing should be the anthen for the day. i mean Jeezy did it with "My President is Black", but damn we know that! Someone needs to be talking about how we are hurting in America! Struggling! After the party is over, then what the fuck! We need to eat. My president is black, but my money is still green and if my black President can't help make conditions better to put some green dollars in my back pocket! Then damnit something else needs to be changed. I gove a damn what coler the man is, just put some shiot in place to help make living in this world a better place. I promise I'll do my part too!

Dreams of freaking a socialte chick! Angela Simmons

Definition of a Socialite:
A socialite is a person who is known to be a part of fashionable high society because of his or her regular participation in social activities and fondness for spending a significant amount of time entertaining and being entertained. Some socialites may choose to use their social skills and connections to promote and raise funds for various charitable or philanthropic activities. Socialites are usually in possession of considerable wealth, whether gained by inheritance or otherwise, that can sustain their steady attendance at social functions.

I know! Angela Simmons isn't the most beautifullest chick in the world! But she is pretty hot though! She reminds me of that girl from around the way who is cool yet sexy at the same time. She's got that cute round face with that New York accent, and that to me is pretty sexy! She's not too much into her self, yet she takes care of herself. She has got the guap though so why wouldn't she take care of herself! She's got that regular down to earth chick thing working well for her!
I've never came off with anything like this posted on my blog yet. However now I will be dedicating a whole section to "Dreams a freaking a socialite chick". If you could you would to! And if you are in fact freaking a socialite chick, then more power to you.
Where I'm at right now I know none of these chicks are accesible for me to holla at, but soon thing must change! When I get this change, things is gone change.
Socialite chicks here I come! Watch out!

King, Obama & Ghetto Niggas like Me: Yeah I also have a dream

What would Martin do on a day like this? A day after the celebration of his birthday the world ushers in a new president, a black president..well a mixed president. Still, close enough I guess?
So today a million plus people are gathered in Washington D.C to welcome president Obama into office. And what does that mean to the nation? In my eyes it symbolizes a change in the political regime. A change in the way we as Americans look at Politics. A change in the psyche of all concious Africans, and African American people.
The part of it all that scares me is that I see Black folks walking around the damn ghetto acting like the whole struggle is over! That saddens me because, I know deep in my heart that the struggle for us as a whole people have just yet begun to struggle towards a better tomorrow.
There will be no free chicken and watermelon falling from the skies! No get out of work today passes. And no free congnac Fridays at the local club!. Lol! Now I'm being a bit sarcastic, but I hope ya'll get the picture.
What all this means to me is that anything is possible. Me and Obama don't nearly come from the same background at all. His mother is white, and he was raised in Kansas and Hawaii. My mother is black, and I was raised in the ghettoes of Middle America. He was a Harvard student that graduated at the top of his class. I'm a college dropout who skipped every possible class. All and all I still feel as If I can dream it I can acheive it!
Still I know there will never be a president who looks like me, from the same conditions as I and with the same educational background as me. I'm fine with that, because I know that the political gurus controlling the world don't ever want to see that, but if they did it would be drama!.
Hell MLK would've never even had the chance to be president! You still have to be just white enough to get it!
I have the utmost respect for Barack Obama, however to me this whole deal feels like my black ass is still being summoned and controlled by the bastard son of the white slave owners. You know how back in the slave days, when massa had sex with one of his blacks and made a baby. How that baby would be held higher and regarded more than the average black slave! Well thats what this feels like to a nigga like me. A nigga bound to the feilds, by blood, sweat and labor. Black to the bone and undeniably so.
Yeah I have a dream. I have a dream that when the smoke clears, we as black folks won't be sold out. I have a dream that America can think beyond class and race. Yeah I have a dream to be wholistically free. But will that dream ever come to be, when you're one whose as black as me.
