Living in a city where the stars seldom shine bright, the only thing we see shine is the cities lights at night. Not nearly as extravagant as the flashing lights of the paparazzi that Kanye spoke about, but still a sight to see. Walking downtown under the auspices of Milwaukee's city lights I can feel the pulse of the city. As the pedestrians stroll pass and the cars whiz by honking their horns the heartbeat of the city intensifies. Every beat brings new life. Beat! A homeless man hustling for change. Beat, Beat! Teenage boys tussling on the corner trying to prove their masculinity. Beat, Beat, Beat! A woman rushes attempting to beat the changing of the street light from red to green. Beat, Beat, Beat, Beat! Yesss. I silently champion her efforts as she beats the light and yells for someone to tell the bus to hold up. I stand off in obscurity breathing in the city. Respiration. Beneath the cities lights.
